Venue info

Hidden down a cobbled street off Whitehall, this lavishly refurbished venue – originally a 17th-century bank – is something of a Tardis. The cosy ground-floor pub sells craft beers (Fourpure, Renegade and Trumans) for post-work pints. Head downstairs and you'll find a smart, leather-boothed dining room on two levels, before a vaulted cocktail bar knocking out mean, barrel-aged Negronis. The menu offers safe bets for tourists – cheeseburgers, fish & chips, sandwiches while contemporary dishes such as crispy n'duja croquettes deliver a creamy centre with lingering spice. The kitchen knows its stuff and we like the attention to detail: chips arrive piping hot and perfectly crispy. Weekends see bottomless brunches on Saturday and classic Sunday roasts – there are cracking set menus for theatre-goers, too.
