Venue info

Slater Street is weekend party central for Liverpool’s drinking classes, with The Shipping Forecast set fair as an essential port of call on the thoroughfare’s bar-hopping trail. Exposed brickwork, freaky posters, metallic pillars and leather sofas provide the shabby-chic backdrop, with alcoves for laptop geeks or courting couples. Alcohol comes from British cask ales and world beers such as Blue Moon, plus a regulation list of wines and funky cocktails, while food (from Ruby Jean’s Diner) brings ‘boutique burgers’, ‘famous fried chicken’, all-day breakfasts, salads and Sunday roasts. Following a refurb, the venue now has a snazzy new ‘top deck’ with a fully stocked bar and a banquet-style table fashioned from cargo crates. Laser-sharp live music, DJs, comedy acts and cabaret are the crowd-pullers, although vintage markets and quizzes also attract an audience – so it’s not all about Saturday night.
