Venue info

There’s a Mad Men feel to this small, bright all-day bar and eatery, which takes its name from the notorious mid-20th-century joint on New York’s ‘Steak Row’. A daytime list offers brunch and lunch dishes with an American twist – steak and eggs, American rarebit, Reuben sandwiches – while the supper menu is split between small plates and larger dishes such as surf & turf and jambalaya. Our toasted Philly steak sandwich showcased perfectly rare rump steak glazed in oozing Monterey Jack, with sautéed onions and peppery rocket; and though an 8oz steak burger was cooked beyond the advertised medium, it remained juicy. There are no puddings, but health-conscious folk might prefer the smoothies such as Triple Berry Cleanser or You’ve Met Your Matcha. A decent cocktail list lies in wait for the less virtuous; the Tomorrowland cocktail, featuring Mozart Gold chocolate liqueur and mint choc-chip ice cream, finished us off nicely.
