Lima Floral?s low-key Bajo Bar has been relaunched as the Lost Alpaca, but despite a few cuddly sketches of the woolly Andean animal, things are much unchanged decor-wise. What?s new is a snappy range of cÇücteles bursting with Latin American flavour. Peru?s national passion, Pisco Sour, is now a firm London fave, but we love this bar?s version: a woody, aromatic smoked pisco matched with tobacco liqueur and Peruvian purple-corn jelly. Equally rewarding recipes include Volcano-Groni, an Incan take on a classic Italian drink where mezcal is mixed with yerba mate tea, Campari, artichoke liqueur Cynar, red vermouth and bentonite clay (the latter said to neutralise toxins). Alternatively, order Prosecco-topped Venezuelan rum, cachaÇõa and guava punch, or Dulce de Martini, a sweet, creamy Lima take on Espresso Martini. Latin lagers CusqueÇña, Loba and Quilmes work with bar snacks of beef empanadas or fried chicken with a lime and lemongrass dip.
