Previously a decidedly average boozer, The Globe has been spruced up & now has aspirations of boho grandeur with its chandeliers & comfy leather sofas. The short drinks selection won't rock the world, though draught Seafarers will bring a smile to the faces of cask ale fans – especially as prices are remarkably reasonable for Covent Garden: think £3.50 for a pint (or £13.95 for a bottle of house wine). Food, served upstairs, is equally easy on the pocket & not bad on the palate either, with simple dishes such as pâté & toast, sausage & mash, moules marinière & lasagne demonstrating a competent hand in the kitchen. It may be smaller than the sprawling Marquis of Anglesey next door, but you probably have a better chance of finding a seat here on busy Friday nights, & there’s even a tiny terrace hidden away on the first floor.
